Making home movies is fun and with the software and equipment available to the everyday person, it has never been easier to create high quality, edited video. A decade ago, an HD camcorder was massive, extremely expensive and reserved for the silver screen. Today, HD video is available at just about ever camcorders digital store out there. This post is for people interested in softening the background to create a focal point surrounded by movement.
A classic example of this would be a woman standing in Times Square, starring up at all that is New York City while thousands of people and cars whiz past on their way to wherever they are going. Creating a digital frame around that woman so she is not lost in the madness of the shot is easier then you may think.
Search online for a neutral density filter, which will allow an HD camcorder to open the aperture. Normally the aperture widens and narrows as the shutter speed is adjusted. You will notice the different ratings on neutral density filters. The higher you go the more soft a shot will be.
